When I think of Canada, my mind goes to crisp mountain air, Banff, poutine and all the different types of maple syrup and Canadian bacon a man can eat. Maybe it’s my inner (out-of-touch) American talking, but Canada and it’s colder climate were never my first thoughts for places around the world with a thriving wake scene.
But boy was I happy to be wrong.
Traveling across the globe I got my first taste of Canadian wake culture meeting some absolute rippers like Liam Brearley, Riley Dillon & Dary Znebel along the way.
I was approached by Slingshot early in 2024 to plan and help out on the 2025 catalogue shoot. When sitting down to think of epic locations, Canada was one of the first places that came to mind due to it’s wild backdrops and scenic 2.0’s I’d drooled over seeing online.
We got the green light and packed the truck heading across the border from the Sinclair Compound in Michigan. The crew was tight; 3 riders, 2 setups to shoot and one pelican case packed tight with gear. We made it through the border with ease and cruised down the backcountry roads until we saw windmills and rolling hills. The GPS said we had arrived and with the paradise we found, I couldn’t stop saying “wow!”
Jake Flynn & Luke Holmes got to work quick; setting up the new gear in some scenic spots. Everywhere we looked, the park was photogenic – props to Andy’s vision. I’ll let the photos of the setup speak for themselves. Enjoy some of the outtakes from the 2025 Slingshot Shoot at Bluestone Wake Park.
